Movement Reference Number (MRN)

18-character alphanumeric code from your declaration

MRN Structure (18 chars)

pos 1–2

Year — Last 2 digits of the year the declaration was accepted

pos 3–4

Country Code — ISO 2-letter country code of the customs office

pos 5–5

Declaration Type — A=Export, B=Transit, C=Fiscal, D=Temporary, E=Import...

pos 6–18

Serial Number — Unique identifier assigned by customs (13 chars, alphanumeric)

pos 18–18

Check Digit — Single character check digit for validation

ℹMRN check digit algorithm uses a modified Luhn-36 scheme. Some customs systems use non-standard formats — if the check fails on a valid MRN, the authority may be using a different algorithm.
